Below I have listed several websites to different groups that go and volunteer in Thailand. If you are interested in helping to make a difference in the lives of the Thai people check out these different programs.
Cross Cultural Solutions allows volunteers to participate in caregiving, teaching, or health care. With caregiving the volunteers go to nursing homes or work with children with disabilities. With teaching volunteers are able to teach Thai people English, which is a very valuable language to know over there. It allows them to get much better jobs. Lastly, if a volunteer chooses to do healthcare they will be able to work a long side health professionals and assist them. All of these 3 volunteering areas will improve the overall wellness of the Thai people.
HELP International is sending volunteers to Thailand for the first time this year! The majority of their projects will focus on public health; including building hand washing stations and teaching HIV/AIDS prevention classes. The volunteers will also be working with other organizations to help human trafficking refugees, establish micro-financing organizations, work in orphanages, and teach business classes. HELP International is based out of Provo, Utah.
Volunteers with i-to-i in Thailand work with a disadvantaged population. The main projects they volunteer with are teaching english in coastal Thailand, community work with hill tribe children in Northern Thailand, and conservation on the tropical island of Koh Tao. Many of the people you would be volunteering with have no access to education or healthcare and these projects help to improve the circumstances and health of the Thai people.
With Open Mind Projects, as a volunteer, you would be able to teach english, provide computer training, work on community-based projects, volunteer with orphans and tsunami victims, or participate in a summer camp for young teenagers and children. By providing the Thai people with more knowledge you are giving them better opportunities in life which will lead them to a higher wage which is correlated to better health.
With Travel to Teach volunteers are given the opportunity to provide child care, medical and healthcare, participate in restoration camps, women’s groups, teaching english, and teaching information technology.
